The Methodist movement began within the Anglican Church in England in the early 1700s. John Wesley (1703-1791), an Anglican priest, along with his brother Charles Wesley and others, began to organize a group of devout Christians who sought to live out their faith in a more intentional and disciplined way. This continued to grow and reached the South African soil. It was then in June 1933 when the MCSA was formed from the Methodist Church in Southern Africa.
